The May River is the Responsibility of The Town of Bluffton
When the Town of Bluffton annexed Palmetto Bluff (20,660 acres), the Shults Tract (620 acres), Buckwalter Tract (5,600 acres), and Jones Tract (4,400 acres) they took the lead position of responsibility for the health and welfare of the May River.
All too often we have seen folks raise their arms and point a finger out past Buckwalter Parkway or talk about pre-approved Planned Unit Developments with the hopes of demonstrating that the responsibility lies elsewhere.
It is not logical or believable that developers want to play a role in our impending environmental disaster. If we show them another way and they can still profit, they have everything to gain by helping us Save the May River. We can succeed if the Town of Bluffton takes responsibility and follows thru on a plan that focuses on the flow of stormwater (hydrology) and the style of development in the May River Watershed.
